SMM IV REVIEW

As you all know, Spring Madness Metalfest was created in the way to give "unknown" but talented bands the chances they deserve
to play live in the best way possible combined with a well known headliner.
For I personally think organisers forget the fact that there are so much talented bands screaming for the attention they deserve.
This festival is a festival made for the bands, the music they bring and the fans who support them every way possible !

The stage for this years edition was kept the same as last year's. So every band could play in the best way possible.
PERUVIAN EYES kicked of the fest. We all knew them from their performance at the fest last year.
Everyone could notice how this young band has grown to a higher level. I still believe every single musician of this band has great potential.
And together with the fans, I hope they release some studio material real soon. Because the songs sounds great live.
At the ending they surprised everybody, including me, by playing the Iron maiden cover 'Children Of The Damned'.
My compliments to the band and especially singer Kevin Andries for this absolutely stunning performance !

We had the privilege of having a Dutch band at the fest with MOTHER OF SIN. Unknown by the bigger part of the audience.
But that changed immediately after just the opening song. Everyone was amazed when singer Eduard Hovinga pinched those high notes so easily.
Mother Of Sin plays melodic power metal, but not the classic one in my opinion. I had the feeling that they bring the songs in a very original way.
Songs like 'Redemption' and 'Burning' where very much appreciated by the entire audience.
The band are working hard to release their album 'Absolution'. So my advice...check out Mother Of Sin !
What a performance by those three guys from Holland !

After Mother Of Sin cleared the stage and left a overwhelmed feeling to everyone, local band GITARON entered the SMM stage.
We all know Gitaron from the previous editions. We all could see many people wanted to see them again.
Gitaron stands for pure headbanging heavy metal. No nonsense, just pure Metal.
It was clear from the start of the show that Gitaron has worked hard the past year. After the intro they kicked of with a new song called 'You Own The World'.
A new song that the fans loved from the beginning. After that they played some songs from their debut album 'Mental Visions' like 'Flame Of Hate', 'Blood On The Wall' and 'When Your Number Is Up'. All great live songs.
But like I said before, they worked hard on new songs and they played new songs like 'Cut To The Chase' and 'Belong In Hell'.
Promising things for the future of this band.

FIREFORCE played the stage after Gitaron. What we all could see from the start was the energy on the stage produced by this band.
Fireforce plays power metal with alot of energy and determination. An overal superb performance by these guys !
Songs like 'Born To Play Metal' and 'Firestorm' stunned the audience.
They even played their Manowar cover 'Battle Hymn' !! A joy to witness this for everyone. And in my opinion the perfect band
before the headliner of the day.

The moment was come to clear the stage for this year's headliner MYSTIC PROPHECY.
After a short intro they opened with 'Across The Gates Of Hell'. Everyone immediately noticed the possitive vibe they produced.
I was curious how the songs of the new album 'Fireangel' sounded live. Well I can tell you that songs like 'Revolution Evil', 'Father Save Me' and the opning track 'Across The Gates Of Hell' sounds amazing !
And older songs like 'Satanic Curses', 'Demons Blood', 'Dark Forces' and 'Savage Souls' all had great responses by the audience.
These guys are pro's and I personally am a big fan of Lia's voice !
The guys ended with the Black Sabbath cover 'Paranoid' and ended the fest in a brilliant way !
